Private tour vs hire car

A hire car can be excellent value for confident drivers, especially if you need a vehicle for several days. It gives almost all the geographic freedom of a private tour.

The difference is that somebody in your party spends the day driving. On unfamiliar rural roads, the person behind the wheel often sees much less of the landscape than everyone else.
