For anyone who's ever wanted to visit Pemberley.

If you've watched Elizabeth Bennet arrive at Pemberley and thought, "I'd love to go there", this is your day.

I'll collect you in York and take you south into the Peak District, linking the landscapes of the 2005 film with villages, winding roads and a visit to Chatsworth House.

There's quite a bit of driving, so we make the journey part of the day: open moorland, the limestone slopes of Winnats Pass, and a stop in Bakewell before Chatsworth. You can enjoy the views while I look after the route.

And if only one of you is the Austen fan? The scenery, towns and house give everyone else plenty to enjoy too.

The route

From the moors to Pemberley.

York → Stanage Edge → Castleton & Winnats Pass → Bakewell → Chatsworth House → York

01 / THE FILM LANDSCAPE

Stanage Edge

The gritstone edge seen in the 2005 film, with open moorland and long views. We'll plan the stop around the weather and how much walking you'd like to do.

02 / THE SCENIC DRIVE

Castleton & Winnats Pass

A short stop in Castleton and a drive through Winnats Pass, where the road winds between steep limestone slopes. A lovely part of the Peak District in its own right.

03 / A BREAK IN BAKEWELL

Bakewell

Time for lunch, a wander by the river or a look around the shops. And, if you're curious, a chance to try the town's famous Bakewell pudding.

04 / PEMBERLEY

Chatsworth House

The main visit of the day. Explore the house used as Pemberley in the 2005 film, including its memorable interiors, with time for the gardens as the schedule allows.

Your group, your day

Leave the driving to me.

This is a full day out, with York collection and return, your own private vehicle and someone taking care of the roads, parking and timings.

I'll help you plan the practical bits before we set off, including lunch and the right time for your Chatsworth tickets. On the day, we can adjust the shorter stops around your interests while keeping time for the house.

The tour is private for your group. Visits to Chatsworth take place during normal visitor opening hours.

How the day works

A full day, with Chatsworth at its heart.

Setting off

Collection in York

We'll agree your collection time before the tour, allowing for the drive south and your Chatsworth entry time. An earlier start makes the most of the day.

Morning

Stanage, Castleton & the pass

Begin with Peak District scenery and the Stanage Edge area, then continue to Castleton and Winnats Pass. These are shorter stops so the day leaves room for Chatsworth.

Lunch

A pause in Bakewell

Stop for something to eat and a look around town. I can help with suggestions before we travel.

Main visit

Chatsworth House

We aim to allow around two to two-and-a-half hours at Chatsworth, depending on your ticket time and the day's conditions. The Painted Hall and Sculpture Gallery both appeared in the 2005 film.

Heading home

Back to York

I'll bring you back to your agreed drop-off point. Allow 9–10 hours overall, with some flexibility for traffic.

The order and length of stops may change to suit Chatsworth entry times, weather and road conditions. I'll confirm the plan for your date.

Good to know

Before you book.

Is this the 2005 Pride & Prejudice tour?

Yes. The film connections focus on the adaptation starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, particularly Stanage Edge and Chatsworth. Castleton, Winnats Pass and Bakewell round out the day with more of the Peak District. This route does not visit Lyme Park, the Pemberley location from the 1995 television series.

Is £795 per person or for the whole group?

It's £795 for the whole private group, with up to four guests. That works out at £198.75 each for four people. Admission, meals and drinks are separate.

How much walking is involved at Stanage Edge?

Reaching the edge involves walking uphill on uneven, exposed ground. The film viewpoint isn't a roadside stop. Tell me about your group's walking ability before travelling; we can plan a suitable walk or enjoy the surrounding scenery without going up onto the edge. Access depends on conditions and time available.

Do we go inside Chatsworth House?

The planned day includes time to visit the house, with admission purchased separately. I'll check opening and ticket arrangements for your chosen date. Time inside is normally self-guided; a private interior tour is not included.

Can we spend longer at Chatsworth?

Of course, we can discuss that. We may be able to shorten another stop to give you more time at Chatsworth and its gardens within the 9–10-hour day.

Does this tour run all year?

The tour operates around Chatsworth's opening calendar. The house normally closes for part of January, February and March, so those dates aren't offered as standard house-visit departures. All visits depend on attraction opening and ticket availability.

Where do you collect us?

From your York hotel, accommodation or another agreed York meeting point. The tour finishes back in York.

What should we bring?

Comfortable shoes with good grip, a waterproof layer and something warm for exposed stops. Let me know about any mobility requirements before booking so we can talk through what will work for you.
